Wack a Toe OR Bang Your Head

Joelle and I have had quite the week! Painful to say the least!

Monday, I was wandering around the house barefoot. I had to go into the restroom before going shopping and as I turned the corner I wacked the pinky toe on my left foot on the door. OH that hurt! That REALLY HURT! I can't believe how black and blue it got! To run my Tuesday trip I had to keep 'Adviled' up so it wouldn't hurt in my work shoe.

Thankfully - it's feeling better now!

Moral of the story: watch out for doors! :)

Then, yesterday on my trip I was talking with Doreen on the phone. She tole me this story. Joelle had gone potty and was in the process of bending over to re-clothe herself when she smacked her head on the corner of the sink. OUCH!

I guess she started crying and Doreen went to get some ice to put on her head. Natalie was two steps ahead of her in getting the ice for her sister. Isn't that sweet??!!!

For the next little while - Natalie was a little nurse to her wounded sister! Aaawwwww!!!

Moral of the story: watch out for sink corners.

Moral of both stories: Inanimante things in a house don't move - so be aware they are always there and just keep toes and foreheads away from them! :)

Chattanooga Nature Center & Coolidge Park Fountain

One day this week, Doreen and the kids went with some friends to the Chattanooga Nature Center to see a 'Creepy Crawly' exibition and walk around in nature.

They saw some really cool creatures. Natalie kept occupied by taking pictures and Joelle was enraptured by all the critters. Doreen said they had a ball.

After the CNC, everyone loaded up and drove over to Coolidge Park to eat lunch there and play in the fountain.

I just noticed, my Joelle's a little monkey - both the pics of her I chose for this post have her in trees - literally! :)

Burning Little Questions about Life

Just got this from a friend and thought I'd share them with you. These things crack me up!!!

Enjoy!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Can you cry under water?

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

How important does a person have to be before they are considered assassinated instead of just murdered?

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Why do you have to "put your two cents in"... but it's only a "penny for your thoughts"? Where's that extra penny going to?

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Once you're in heaven, do you get stuck wearing the clothes you were buried in for eternity?

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Why does a round pizza come in a square box?

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

What disease did cured ham actually have?

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

How is it that we put man on the moon before we figured out it would be a good idea to put wheels on luggage?

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Why is it that people say they "slept like a baby" when babies wake up like every two hours?

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

If a deaf person has to go to court, is it still called a hearing?

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Why are you IN a movie, but you're ON TV?

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Why do people pay to go up tall buildings and then put money in binoculars to look at things on the ground?

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Why do doctors leave the room while you change?
They're going to see you naked anyway.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Why is "bra" singular and "panties" plural?

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Why do toasters always have a setting that burns the toast to a horrible crisp, which no decent human being would eat?

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

If Jimmy cracks corn and no one cares, why is there a stupid song about him?

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Can a hearse carrying a corpse drive in the carpool lane ?

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

If the professor on Gilligan's Island can make a radio out of a coconut, why can't he fix a hole in a boat?

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Why does Goofy stand erect while Pluto remains on all fours?
They're both dogs!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

If Wile E. Coyote had enough money to buy all that ACME crap, why didn't he just buy dinner?

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

If corn oil is made from corn, and vegetable oil is made from vegetables, what is baby oil made from?

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

If electricity comes from electrons, does morality come from morons?

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Do the Alphabet song and Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star have the same tune?

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Why did you just try singing the two songs above?

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Why do they call it an asteroid when it's outside the hemisphere, but call it a hemorrhoid when it's in your butt?

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Did you ever notice that when you blow in a dog's face, he gets mad at you, but when you take him for a car ride, he sticks his head out the window?

Answered Prayer OR Permant Co-Driver

I'm 3 months away from my 3 year anniversary at the Bakery. I still completely enjoy my job.

Unfortunatly I am still a floater. Some guys get picked up by a partner in a few weeks, some a month or two or more.

For some reason, I haven't gotten 'hooked-up' with anyone. I've got about 6 or 7 guys who already have partners, who want to run with me when their partner is our or on vacation. That's kinda nice - but it's not the same.

Well, a week ago, a guy called me, when I was on a trip, and asked me to run with him. YES!

Last night, when I went in for my trip, I signed on the dotted line. I'm officially partnered up. Starting Aug 16 I'll have a permanent partner, then two weeeks after that we'll get a regular trip.

What a cool answer to prayer!

WOW - I'll have a regular schedule. What will I do?

I'll have an awesome time!

SWEET!

B.Y.O.B. Party OR TWISTER

Last night we went over to our friends house for a B.Y.O.B. party. No, not what you're thinking - "Bring Your Own Banana," it was a make your own banana split party.

YUMMY!!!

I made a killer banana split. Shucks, should have taken a pic of it! Oh well.

Later on though, the girls/kids played some TWISTER. The first time for the kids. I didn't get to see it cuz I had to leave for a trip, but when I got home today I asked them about it and you should have heard the story. PRECIOUS!

What fun!!!

More Visitors

This past week, we had more visitors. (By the way, we'd LOVE to have you stop by sometime - really, we would!)

Doreen's cousin Andria, sister to Janelle - who was just here a week ago, came by with her husband and two girls.

Thankfully, I had a short amount of time to visit with them before heading out on that LONG trip I took, or I would have missed them completely.

My family had a ball visiting and playing and just hanging.

They swam one day, went to an Uncles house the next day to enjoy some down-home music, they played some games and just had a wonderful time together!

The night after they left, Natalie had a hard time getting to sleep cuz she was crying. She was missing her 2nd cousin Esther already! :)

Thanks for stopping by y'all!

Stung, Twice in One Day

Last Sunday I got stung by two different wasps at two different times in two different locations. Aaarrrggghhhhh! I hate that!

We needed to do some yardwork, so we got to it. We disassembled an old sandbox the girls never play in anymore.

Then we needed to mow and weed-wack. My job is weed-wackin!

One of the places that needed some serious weed-wackin' attention was underneath our deck. I was workin' it getting it nice and cleaned out when I felt a little stab to the back of my neck. I initially though it was something that flew up from the weed-wacker until I looked up and saw a wasp flying away. OUCHIE! It started itchin immediately.

So we got the yard done and showered and over to my in-laws to visit with out-of-town family passing through. We talked and had lunch and I'd occassionally itch my neck.

Time came for me to head to work and as I was walking down the stairs to the bakery, another wasp flew down outta the top of the bridge and stung me on the side of my left elbow! Double ouch!

We hooked up the truck and loaded our rollers and headed on down the road and now I was itchin my elbow and neck. Man-o-man!

My elbow started to swell just a little bit. It never really hurt, but I couldn't rest my elbow on the steering wheel as I drove down the road like do every now and then. That was frustrating.

Well, thankfully both sting places are gone now - but man - I HATE WASP STINGS!!!! Especially two in one day! :(

Fishy Updates

A couple of days ago I was on a trip and was talking with Doreen on the phone. She was telling me about some new stuff that my girls were learning to do in the pool and I was feeling a bit disappointed I missed seeing it.

Well, yesterday, we went swimming. The first thing Natalie wanted to show me was how she now knows how to dive. So I was EAGER to watch her. Sure enough right off the edge, with really good form, she went in! Amazing!

Then she says, "Daddy, watch, I can dive off the diving board." She climbs out of the pool, walks around to the diving board and plop, in she goes fingers first, body straight, toes last! How incredibly precious!!!

Later on I got to enjoy watching both my girls swim, almost effortlessly, head first down to the bottom of the seven foot section to retrieve my watch.

Then just before we had to leave, Joelle, took some time to show me her latest accomplishment. She started at the edge of the deep end, swam way down and all the way to the other side up underneath the rope. Man, that was cool to see.

They are both doing so well swimming - I call them my little fishies! :)

A REAL Truck Driver

So I had a trip this week where I was a 'real' truck-driver!!!

In two 1/2 days I ran from Chattanooga, TN to the Northeast tip of Michigan, then over to Chicago, IL and then headed for Stewarts Draft, VA. Then back to Chattanooga, TN.

2,600 Mi, 6 drops, 2900 cases, one pick-up and one drop and hook.

Wheeew!

What a trip.

I liked my second trip, 12 hours to Atlanta and back.

Oh yeah, I popped that puppy. I was weed wackin around the front of the house I caught a pile of rocks and the weed wacker threw one at the front door and just shattered it.

I didn't realize what happened until I heard the girls yelling for me. I turned the machine off and looked around and saw this mess! They heard the crash and came looking.

Needless to say, we had a huge mess to clean up! Oh well, we'll replace it, but with something we want there instead of what was there!

Fortune Cookie Says Pt 2:

"Well arrainged time is a good sign of a well arranged mind."

Yup - I knew it!

We also had some friends once that would tell us that being late is a sign of a sloppy Christian.

Our Little 15th Anniversary Celebration

So, the plan for today was to go pick blueberries and eat out with my in-laws.

The blueberries weren't ready yet! :( Therefore our plans changed! We now planned to clean the house and do little thing around. I was kind of disappointed.

While I was at the Chiropractor this morning, Doreen set things up with my in-laws to watch the kids from 2 to 5 this afternoon before they came over for supper.

So we dropped them off at 2 and went to Moe's for a delicious meal then over to the Marble Slab creamery for dessert!

Then to home!

It was a nice momento of the day of our anniversary.

However, since this is a milestone - our 15th - we're planning a little more elaborate celebration in a couple of weeks. Blog that after it happens though! :)

My In-Law's 40th Anniversary Celebration

My in-laws have their 40th anniversary, 3 days after ours on the 21st.

Doreen and Shelly got on the phone and talked about what they could do to help them celebrate their special day. Here's what they came up with for them to do this weekend. (You might want to check Larry & Sandra's Blog in a day or two to see what they have to say about their experience.)

First off, they're going downtown to Pier 2 for a two hour ride on the Southern Belle Riverboat.

Next they have a room in the Chattanooga Art District in a place called the Bluff View Inn.

They'll be staying in the MacLellan House in the Carter Room.

After check-in they'll have dinner at Tony's Pasta Shop & Trattoria. The nice thing here is they'll be able to call from their room for a table and when it's ready, the restaurant will call them. Then they'll just walk across the street and straight to their table. Nice!

In the evening we got them tickets to see The Grand Canyon at the IMAX Theatre. Larry's been wanting to see that.

Then they'll wrap up their evening with a nice carriage ride around downtown and then relaxing in their nice room. Hope you have a Happy Anniversary Larry & Sandra!!!

15 Fantastic Years OR How We Met

Fifteen years ago, today, this girl...

...and this boy made a promise to each other...

...to Love, Honor and Cherish each other.

Well we have!

What an awesome day that was! Wow has 15 years gone by already? Have we lived as a married couple in two different states? Have we really gone through 3 different jobs and now have two kids, 7 & 5?

It all started 19 years ago, in Keene, TX. The first day of class, a Tuesday, at Southwestern Adventist College, I spied this beautiful brunette with hazel eyes across the classroom. We were in Life & Teachings of Jesus. That first day, their was a moment that our eyes met. That was all. We didn't talk that day because after I got out of that class I had to head straight to work.

In fact, we didn't talk for the next two weeks. Even though we had Intro to Algebra, Freshman Orientation, and Life & Teachings of Jesus together. I didn't know her name. I just knew her face.

She knew my name, and she knew my face but didn't put the two together. I was in her father's choir at school and she was his secretary, so she saw it with a check mark by it every time I attended class.

During that two weeks in Life & Teachings though, we started to connect, just through looks. When the class moved along rather slooooooowly, we'd mimic each other's posture or hand placement or looks. It was fun. Flirting across the room.

The day came in Freshman Orientation that the instructor had us do an ice-breaker. Around the walls of the room were the months of the year. We were given a 'list' of questions, then go to the month of our birthday and find someone else, in that same month, interview them from that list and turn it in.

I went right up to the stage where May was hanging. I began talking with another girl watching where this brunette was going to end up. Surprisingly, she too walked down front to the May section and sat down by me. I immediately switched all my attention to, "Doreen." We each did the interview, shook hands and returned to our seat, but the 'ice' was broken. We began talking regularly.

We found out we were both sports fans - so our first official date was a racquetball game, then to Dairy Queen afterwards to have a soda and talk. It all went well until she spilled her drink at the table we were at. Not wanting to make her feel more embarrassed, I got up and went up to the front to ask for a rag to clean stuff up.

We made it passed that little hick-up. We'd talk one day, then not at all the next 3 then the next time we 'talked' it was a bit awkward - again. She was from the area and had lots of friends that came to SAC from the local academy - I was from Colorado and had one or two friends there. Sometimes I felt like an extra wheel trying to fit on a car - but I persevered.

Eventually we started going out on the weekends doing things together. Oct 31 rolled around and we went to a Haunted House with some friends. In the car on the way there, we held hands for the first time. Afterwards as I walked her back to her car - I asked her 'out,' to be my steady girlfriend and the response I got was quite a surprise, she laughed, but said, 'yes.'

Over the next couple of months, we'd have really good times together and then some really awkward moments. It was hard to gauge.

At the Christmas break, I headed home to Colorado. After I returned and the second semester started, we didn't talk much and it had gotten extremely awkward. I'd had enough and intended to break up with her one day after our Speech class. I'd always sit in front trying to be a good student and she sat in the back with her sister. Of course, right after class I'd have to take off for my evening job at the nursing home.

One afternoon I had off, so after class, instead of heading out the door - I headed towards the back of the room. To my surprise she was headed to the front. In her hand was a 'card' she gave me. We talked a few moments then separated. I kept the note I intended on giving her, breaking up, for a later time.

The note written in that card she gave me was what I needed to hear at the time to 'keep us together.' I don't remember exactly what it said - but it was enough to let me know she was very interested and we worked hard on our relationship.

It didn't come without a few bumps, twists and turns though. But we worked at it.

A few weeks later, we all went to the Reunion Tower for Larry's birthday dinner, then over to Fort Worth for an Imax movie. After we got back to their house, I walked her to the front door, and we kissed for the first time right on her porch.

That next summer, between our Freshman and Sophomore years, we spent Oodles of time together when we weren't working. We did 6 flags, lots of movies and miniature golfing and just playing catch in the park. We created a solid bond that was strong enough to get us through some stormy times our Sophomore and Junior years. Mainly because I had a LOT of maturing to do and because I was working nights and was tired ALL THE TIME!

We got engaged just before going to a Young Messiah concert in Dallas with some friends. Jan 14, 1992. I sent Larry a letter asking for permission to ask Doreen to marry me and he replied quickly and positively. So I did and she said 'yes.'

Our senior year was a challenge because it was her clinical year going to a school in Fort Worth. Many times she was up at 4am and to the school by 6. Then in the evenings we'd have maybe 20 or 30 minutes together, then she'd have to go study and I'd need to get to work. But again we persevered.

Then graduation and I went to Illinois, she stayed in Texas until the end of June then to Centralia, MO where her Grandma lived and where we were going to be wed.

Finally the day came where I got off work and headed to Missouri to join them to finalize everything and to get married.

Now 15 years has passed. Unbelievable. Time has 'shot' by!

I tell you one thing though - I'd do it again in an instant!

Happy Anniversary Doreen! I'm looking forward to another 15, plus, years with you!

Love ya lots and lots!!! :)

Today in History - July 18. (Hint: Read the last entry! LOL)

0064 - Rome burned on this day -- while Nero fiddled, literally.

1743 - The New York Weekly Journal published the first half-page newspaper ad.

1914 - The Aviation Section of the U.S. Signal Corps was created, giving status to the air service for the first time. The first flying unit had twelve officers, 54 enlisted men, and six airplanes assigned to it at North Island (San Diego, CA).

1927 - Ty Cobb set a major-league baseball record by getting his 4,000th career hit. Cobb recorded 4,191 hits before his career came to an end the following year -- after 23 years in the big leagues.

1936 - The critically acclaimed, experimental theatre of the air, The Columbia Workshop, debuted on CBS radio.

1951 - After trying four times without success, ‘Jersey’ Joe Walcott became the world heavyweight boxing champ by knocking out Ezzard Charles (whose real name was actually Charles Ezzard) in Pittsburgh, PA. Walcott became the oldest heavyweight titlist to the time (age 37).

1964 - Pete Rose of the Cincinnati Reds connected for the only grand-slam home run of his career. It came against the team he would later play for -- the Philadelphia Phillies. Rose had been in the major leagues for only two years and was just 22 at the time. Dallas Green (later to become manager of the Phillies) gave up the gopher ball to Rose.

1964 - The 4 Seasons reached the top spot on the record charts with Rag Doll, the group’s fourth hit to climb to the #1 position. The song stayed on top for two weeks. Other #1 hits by Frankie Valli and company include, Big Girls Don’t Cry, Walk Like a Man, and December, 1963 (Oh, What a Night).

1970 - Ron Hunt of the San Francisco Giants was hit by a pitch for the 119th time in his career, earning him the dubious distinction of being the most-beaned baseball player in the major leagues.

1976 - Nadia Comaneci, the 14-year-old star gymnast from Romania, stunned those watching the Olympic Games by executing perfect form to collect a perfect score of ‘10’ from the judges. This was the first perfect score ever recorded on the uneven parallel bars. Nadia went on to collect seven perfect scores, three gold medals, a silver and a bronze. She also won two gold and two silver medals in the 1980 Olympics. Pretty heavy stuff for the tiny lady.

1999 - David Cone pitched a perfect game for the New York Yankees. Cone befuddled the Montreal Expos, throwing the 16th perfect game in baseball history, while leading the Yankees to a 6-0 victory.

1993 - THE MOST IMPORTANT - Steve and Doreen Pester got married!

What an extremely awesome day today is!!! :)

Chop Chop

Yesterday while I was on a trip to Dothan, AL Doreen decided to trim some of the low hanging branches in our back-yard that were getting to be too low hanging. So she and Joelle got out and started chopping and cutting!

It was a big job with lots to chop and cut and remove. Joelle was a excellent helper keeping at it the whole time!

Here's the final pile of branches that the two of them cleaned out of our backyard. Boy - it looks really nice out there now! :)

Bubble Girl

Sunday we went to the store to do our grocery shopping. Yeeaaaahhhh! Fun times! He, he, he!

Actually, I do enjoy doing the shopping. It's even better when I've got my family with me.

Natalie was riding on the back of the cart as I was pushing, Joelle was hanging onto the side with her Heelys on rolling through the store and Doreen was walking next to me! Nice!

Joelle was also chewing gum. They have been noticing how Doreen's been blowing bubbles recently and been trying themselves.

Joelle got her first one in the store that day!

Boy were we proud of her!

Just another cute thing to add to our list of cute things our girls do! :)

My Little Crusaders

This week at our church is VBS. The theme is "A Royal Adventure, the King of King's Castles and Crowns." It has been really good! It teaches the kids about the character of God through stories of Kings and Queens of the Bible.

The girls have really enjoyed it. Because of my schedule I've only been able to attend two meetings, help setup and teardown - but it has worked out perfectly!

Every night they draw two names and the children get a gift bag. Well the first night, the first child's name chosen was Joelle and the second in a Twilight Zone type moment was Natalie's. Coolness!

In these bags were a number of little things including a foam sword and shield. They've been on crusades all through the house fighting evil and each other!

Very precious!

What a CORNY Day

My father-in-law's brother and his kids planted a huge corn 'patch' this season. They've been harvesting quite a crop. Twice we have gotten a dozen or so ears from them just to eat. Well, this week, we decided to get 8 dozen to freeze, so we have some later on we don't have to 'buy' at the store.

So we got 8 dozen and my mother-in-law got 8 dozen. They had a schucking party one evening - I was still on a trip and missed out on that part.

The next day we met at their house and started on the freezing process!

I'd get the corn blanched and then cooling in a sink of cold water, then Sandra and Doreen would cut it off the cob.

Then it was my job between the other jobs to fill the freezer bags. We kinda figured it would be a most of the day process. We started just before 10am and were done with all of them by 1pm. We were zoomin!

We ended up with 46 quarts of frozen corn. 26 for my in-laws - not filled quite as full and 20 for us.

That work will come in extremely handy this winter! Yummy!

For more info on this day, check out my father-in-law's post. You can also see what he and the girls were doing during this process!

Very Special Music

Before our vacation - Natalie asked Doreen if she could help her sing for Family Time before the service at our church. "What a great idea!" So they've been practing songs and this Sabbath the two of them led the congregation in 4 songs.

It was so cute. Natalie standing there singing right out next to her mom! Precious.

I also have to say a kuddo to my oldest daughter who was the photographer on these pics. I had to run audio and couldn't go downstairs, so I recruited Joelle to help. She did a fantastic job.

I have two very precious girls!!!

For another perspective on this, check out my in-laws blog... Larry & Sandra.

Weeden Visit

Last week we had a GREAT visit with one of Doreen's cousins - Janelle and family, Seen here John & Kara. They stopped by on the way from Florida up to Wisconsin. We had a short chance to visit with them before they left the next morning.

They made plans to stop in on the way back to Florida. We had such a good morning visiting, and they were so wore out from the trip, they decided to stay an extra day. Cool beans! We had fun playing games, sitting talking, going out on the 'swing of death' (Jay - seen here and Kara said the end of the rope swing looked like a noose - so they dubbed it the swing of death. Also cuz if you swing the wrong way you can bang into the tree! LOL)

We'd not had a lot of time to just 'hang' with them before so this was kind of extra special. I had also set up an appointment to play racquetball with a friend, but when they were able to stay that day, John, Kara and Jay came and the 4 of us played. We had a ton of fun chasing that little ball around the court. Janelle (seen here) and Doreen had a good chance to visit during that time too!

In the evening, Kara, Jay, Joelle and Natalie went out into our backyard and caught a bunch of fireflies.

It is GOOD to visit with family!!!

Super Swimmers

Last Friday, (July 11) both Joelle and Natalie finished up two weeks of swimming lessons. Both of them passed the requirements for Intermediate 1 and will be eligible for Intermediate 2 next season.

At first we weren't sure either of them were gonna pass, but then it just seemed to click for Joelle and she was getting pretty proficient at some of the strokes. Natalies 'click' came a bit later, but towards the end, they were both swimming excellently!

I'm proud of my two little fishy girls! :)

'Ph'amily Phases

Doreen and I just had some family visiting from Florida. (It's Doreen's cousin.)

Anyway, in the course of one of one of the final conversations they had - I wasn't in on it, I was in the bunk of a semi-truck headed to New Orleans, LA, - they got to talking about an organization we were all in at one point. (Yes, network marketing, prospecting, the circles, pyramid scheme - Amway.)

They talked about the good, how it brought John & Janelle together, how John came to Christ through it, how Doreen and I learned some positive ways to live our lives. They also talked about the not so good of it.

As Doreen and I talked on the phone later, she recounted this conversation and that got us to thinking about how we moved through that phase of our life.

It was a super-conservative phase, while living in S Illinois, that pulled us out of Amway.

Then that lead to eating the 'translation diet' phase trying to get ready for Heaven and some extremely 'unique' Bible studies. Of course, not all 100% accurate - we now believe.

Then a phase of helping out a small church and doing a 'Revelation Seminar.' That pulled us out of the other phase and back to a more moderate lifestyle.

It wasn't long after that, we entered the United Van Lines trucking phase. What an aweome 3 1/2 years of our lives. Lots of growing and maturing and visiting and sightseeing and lots and LOTS of work!

Then the Tennessee phase, LT Radio and LT Television and then two beautiful daughters/parenting phase. Then the career change phase, back to a truck-driver and school phase for Doreen.

What phase is next? Who knows!!!

We'll enjoy it when it comes! That's the only way to handle life phases! :)

Tenting

Doreen offered to build a tent for the girls to sleep in last night. So here is the master tent builder at work.

The girls are sticking their heads out getting ready to sack 'in' for the night.

A quick tent worship then to bed. The girls loved it. They loved it so much they had a hard time getting to sleep and ended up in their own beds for the night, but they've played in it like crazy today! :)

Too cute!

Did You Hear???

With all the sadness and trauma going on in the world at the moment, it is
worth reflecting on the death of a very important person, which almost went unnoticed last week.

Larry LaPrise, the man that wrote 'The Hokie Pokey' died peacefully at the age
of 93. The most traumatic part for his family was getting him into the coffin.
They put his left leg in...

...And then the trouble started.

Awwww come on, go ahead and laugh! You know that is extremely funny.

Got this in an e-mail from my sis and roared! :)

Have a great week!

4 Generations

While we were in Colorado, we took the opportunity to get a pic of 4 generations together. My grandma, mom, me and my girls. It's not often that one sees 4 generations together. So I siezed the moment and had a photo snapped.

Later I got a copy of this pic from my mom of four generations together. Me with my mom, my grandma and my great grandma. I was a bit younger back then! :)

Just for an added bonus, here's a painting my sister has in her house of the Blue Goose Cafe my great grandma started in Downtown Dallas a LONG time ago. My grandma told stories of working in that cafe! Great family heritage!

Happy 4th of July

Hope you had a happy 4th of July. I did. This is the first time in 3 years I've been able to sit and enjoy an entire fireworks show. Of course I almost missed it.

I'd been on a trip to SC and got back just after 9pm. (This was on Thur when Collegedale had their fireworks show.) So we put our gear away, fueled the rig, parked it and threw my bags in the pickup truck, found a place to park and watch the show. My family had gotten together with my in-laws and were actually at the park for the event and really enjoyed it.

Then today, the actual 4th, we did some cool stuff too.

We had to run an errand down-town, so the girls went in their bathing suits and had a ball playing in the water 'fountains' next to the TN Aquarium.

Here they were acting little alligators in the creek. Too cute!

Later on we had to run by my in-laws for a moment and found them working on taking the lettering off the truck. They're going to let their contract expire so they have to return the lettering and satellite communication equipment. Fun!

Then for supper we had fresh corn on the cob and baked potatoes!

After our bellies were full we played some games together.

It was a good holiday!
