Allergies

This summer, we were over at some friends for a bonfire and Joelle went running, with the rest of the kids, through a big field of tall grass to get to a creek to play in. Oh she was having FUN! Then she came back, through the grass again, to jump on the trampoline. A few minutes later she came over to us and was crying and itching and had little welts all over her arms and face and neck and couldn't stop itching.

Luckily, our friends had some Benadryl and we threw Joelle into a cool shower. She eventually stopped feeling itch, stopped crying and felt better. That was majorly scary!

So we took her to an allergist to assess what the problem is.

(The Pic is of Joelle during her allergy test.)

The problem is, Joelle is related to my side of the family! I've been allergic to cats and all sorts of stuff over the years and just never done anything about it. So Doreen talked me into going to get allergy tested.

(That's my arm and the reaction I'm having to stuff.)

Turns out we're both extremely allergic to Grasses, cats, some trees, and I've got some weeds thrown in for good measure and a mold or two.

So we're both going weekly now to get allergy shots, for the next half a year, to start building up immunity to the stuff that causes us problems. It's a pain, but I'm praying it's worth it! Especially if we don't have to go through another outbreak like Joelle had.
