Boy, do I got to tell you about the start of this Freaky Friday.
I went to bed about 1 am this morning. It's a habit I've gotten into because of the 'late' nights I keep driving a truck. Kinda keeps me on a schedule. :)
Anyway, about 6:30a I hear this weird sound in our bathroom that is right off our bedroom - it was basically a thud.
Well, not knowing what it was, I jump out of bed, flick the light on to find Doreen slumped on the floor, head in the corner feet jammed near the potty. She's white as a ghost, breathing very shallowly (is that a word?) and her eyes are half open staring into nothing.
Thinking about my grandfather who had a stroke and passed away in '92, with kind of those same symptoms, I freak and try to wake her. Nothing. No response.
So I grab the phone and dial 911. We've got a VOIP phone, and since we've moved - the company we're with hasn't changed our address - so they were a bit confused with the address thing, so I had to walk them through that and then get transferred.
During all this, I'm still trying to get through to Doreen and finally, she responds, so I sit her up and tell 911 to forget it.
So she starts coming around - and then lays down on the floor. While she's on the floor, she talks with me coherently, but her skin's all clammy and she has her eyes half open doing all this freaky eye stuff.
20 mintues later she gets up and back into bed.
She's perfectly fine now.
Now some back story...
Last night her tummy felt a little rumbly, so she drank some herbal tea we have called 'Smooth Move.' It's a laxitive of sorts.
She was sitting on the potty when she passed out, and before that she was having a diareah issue and feeling very much like she was going to hurl.
I was talking on the phone with a church member today and he says at his work, a bunch of people called in sick with a bug causing those two symptoms.
So with the tea - it just added to the problem and her body reacted not to good to this whole thing.
Of course I didn't react too good to this whole thing. It is NOT good getting woke up to find that your wife has passed out on the floor. That's a REAL shock to the system, ya know?
Doreen keeps teasing me when I kinda tease her about it, she says "I'm the victim here..."
"No way," I reply, "You were konked out on the floor, I'm in a panic wondering what has gone happened to you and scared spitless for 2 minutes with no response from ya."
She is doing much, MUCH better. She still feels a little fatigued, but better.
I'm gonna make it too, I think. :)

For Joelle's birthday, one of the things she wanted was an 'inside-out' ball like her cousins had when they were here for a visit.
So we got her one and during our camping trip, everybody but one person tried it on!

Our Family
Every month our church puts out a newsletter. We have a lady in the church that thoroughly enjoys interviewing and writing a little 'biography' of the families in our church. This month we were chosen. This newsletter comes out in a week or two, but here's the final draft on the story of us.

The family has shared their family talents with Ooltewah church since 2005. Steve, Doreen, Joelle and Natalie love to serve the Lord and do so joyfully.
Steven ‘Steve’ was born in Englewood, Colorado on May 7. He has twin sisters that are a few years younger than him. He was raised in an Adventist home and received an Adventist education. He graduated from Campion Academy in 1989. Following Academy Steve went to Southwestern Adventist College in Keene, Texas. On the first day of school in his freshman year he met his future wife, Doreen. During their time at the college they met Kalvin and Kristine Follett who later would connect Steve with a job and introduce them to the Ooltewah Church.
Doreen was born in Mexico, Missouri on May 8 (a year later than Steve). She has an older sister. She was also raised Adventist. Her family lived in the area and her father taught at Southern Missionary College. Doreen attended Spalding elementary from grades 3 through 7 when the family moved to Texas. She graduated from Chisholm Trail Academy in 1989.
In 1993, Steve graduated with a Bachelors of Science degree in Broadcasting. Doreen graduated the same year with a Bachelors of Science degree in Medical Technology. Following graduation, Steve and Doreen were married July 18, 1993. The first adventure they would take together following school was to move to Southern Illinois. Steve had gotten a broadcasting job at 3ABN as the master control operator for the night shift and then worked in production as an audio engineer and editor. Steve says,”during my time there it was amazing to watch it grow from twelve downlinks to almost 100.” He worked at 3ABN for three years. While they were there Doreen worked as a Medical Technologist and lab supervisor at a local clinic.
Steve and Doreen described themselves as planning people and one of their plans was to start a family. Part of that plan included getting their finances in order. From 1996-2000 they were owner operators of a moving truck for United Van Lines. Steve utilized his driving experience he had gotten during his college summers when he drove with his father for Montana Conference Transportation. While Steve drove, Doreen kept track of inventory and the condition of the articles being moved. She also helped with loading the truck. The time working for the moving company was a blessing for them. They were able to visit family and friends across the country, see lots of the beauty and special sights in America and get completely out of debt. They also experienced the blessing of traveling extensively. They traveled to every continental state except Michigan. They moved just over a million and a half pounds of furniture during the time they were movers.
In January of 2000, Steve took a job to become the Production Director for the North American Division’s Radio Network called LifeTalk. His first assignment, however, was to physically move LifeTalk from Yakima, Washington to Vonore, Tennessee. After that task was completed he did real radio work like making spots, audio editing, preparing live talk shows and on air engineering. Later he was promoted to create and manage the new television department. Doreen worked for almost a year as receptionist with LifeTalk. During this time they had Joelle on April 20, 2001 in Sweetwater, Tennessee then 18 months later had Natalie on October 31, 2002 in Sweetwater, TN. Doreen stayed home with the children.
In October 2005, Steve was hired at McKee Foods as a truck driver. Doreen laughingly said, “another way of looking at it is he’s a snack cake relocation specialist.” As Steve drives the truck Doreen is working on becoming a dental hygienist. She attends Chattanooga State and will complete the program by April 2009. She specifically chose the dental hygiene profession to have an income without being on call, flexible hours and not having to work weekend or holiday shifts.
Steve and Doreen are competing with each other to see who will get to the last states they are missing to have gone to all 50. Steve has been to Alaska and Doreen has not, and Doreen has been to Hawaii but Steve has not. In the meantime, Steve enjoys eating Doreen’s gluten and Doreen enjoys eating mangos.
When they began attending the Ooltewah church they got involved with the Adventurers club. Doreen can be found helping lead in the Adventurer song service and the church family sing. She shares her musical talents through song and playing several instruments. She can play the marimba, French horn and guitar. Steve helps out with taking pictures for Adventurers and operating the church P.A. system. They typically attend first service and go to the young adult Sabbath School class.
Joelle attends the Kindergarten Sabbath school class. She has been home schooled by Doreen and will be attending 1st grade at OAKS in the fall. She loves horses and strawberries. Natalie, on the other hand, loves princess things and cucumbers. She also attends the Kindergarten Sabbath School class and will be starting at OAKS this fall in pre-Kindergarten.
Together as a family they enjoy Geocaching, biking, swimming, camping and serving the Lord. The family plans to go to a family reunion this May in Oklahoma. In August they plan on traveling to the Boundary Waters on the boarder of Minnesota and Canada for a camping trip with Doreen’s sister and family.
This family is a blessing to the Ooltewah church. If you have not met them take a moment to do so. They have a healthy sense of humor and their joy is overflowing.

New Look
Ok - it's been time for a while to update the look of my page here.
Finally did it. Not exactly what I want, but it gives me a few features to change a few things I'd like to on here to make it a bit easier. It'll work, especially since I don't know all the 'proper' html or java codes to make something from scratch!
Anyway, I just went through the links to make sure they all work and voila - they're good.
Notice the 'friends' list is a TON shorter than before. I looked and anyone that hasn't posted in the last 6 months was yanked. Sorry guys. Start posting and I'll put you back up! :) Hate to lose ya, but don't need a 'dead' link on my page you know?
Anyway - y'all have fun continuing to read this as I update stuff every now and then!
Headed out camping this weekend. Hope you all have a good weekend too!

Good Stuff
Ok - I know this one may be a long read, but in light of Monday's events, here's two things I'd really like to share with you.
Monday night Doreen watched CMT (Country Music Television) Awards Show. I talked to her after that and she was telling me how the show ended with a powerful closing commentary by funnyman Jeff Foxworthy that lead into an awesome song by Martina McBride.
Well, they re-aired the show and I happened to catch the very end and the stuff Doreen wanted me to see.
They were BOTH very, VERY good. And when we see events like Monday and the reason people withdrawl and do mean things to others that have a lasting effect - if we all had these attitudes and values of what you will read - things would be a bit different on this Earth.

Well this the third year in a row that I have done this. Which sets some kind of a record for me being on the same show. And I started thinking about why I like Country music and doing this show so much. and here's what I came up with ya'll.....
I like Country music because it's about the things in life that really matter.
It ain't about braggin' about how you're gonna mess somebody up or how somebody ain't respectin' ya.
It's about love, family, friends with a few beers, a cheap woman and a two timing man thrown in for spice.
It doesn't take political sides, even on things as ugly as war.
Instead it celebrates the brave men and women who go to fight 'em and the price they pay to do it and the longing we have for them to return home to the ones that they love.
It's about kids and how there ain't nothin' like 'em. I get tired of hearing about how bad kids are today. Because there are a lot of great kids out there today that just need somebody to love 'em and believe in 'em.
Country folks love their kids and they will "Jack You Up" if you try to mess with 'em.
People in Country music don't forget the people that allow them to do what they do for a livin'.
They sign autographs and they take pictures with the fans because they know without 'em most of us entertainers would be gettin' a lot dirtier in the course of our work day.
We are thankful that people wanna hear the songs and the jokes that we write.
Country music doesn't have to be politically correct.
We sing about God because we believe in Him.
We are not trying to offend anybody, but the evidence that we have seen of Him in our small little lives trumps your opinion about whether or not He exist.
We love Country music because it touches us where we live. It's about mamas and when they were hot, and when they were under appreciated and when they were dying.
It's about daddys and the difficulty they have sometime in telling the people that they work so hard to protect and provide for how they feel about 'em.
Country music is about new love and it's about old love.
It's about gettin' drunk and it's about gettin' sober.
It's about leavin' and it's about coming home.
It's REAL music.....sung by REAL people.....for REAL people.
The people that make up the backbone of this country.
You can call us Rednecks if you want. We're not offended, cause we know what we're all about.
We get up and go to work. We get up and go to church. And we get up and go to war when necessary. All we ask for is a few songs to carry us along the way.
And that's why I love this show. Because it ain't some self-imported Hollywood hype where the winner is determined by somebody else.
On this show YOU decide who goes home with a trophy. And YOU get to dance and sing along with the people that bring you the songs of your life.

Here's some recent pics I thought I'd share with you today...
One evening Joelle started talking about how she wanted to get dressed up in her engineer get-up. I said, "That's nice." The next morning - she was completely decked out like this! Very, VERY cute!! :)
Here's some of the work we've been doing in our back yard. We had a bit of a bank near a ditch and this is some of the prep work we've done to plant some Creeping Phlox. Got 'em planted now. Next step is to get river rock and put in in the ditch to make it look nice. Lots 'o work! :)
"Artsy Fartsy Pic Alert" Instead of just taking a pic of the kids climbing the tree from the front, I saw this and thought it was just as cute of Joelle & her friends sitting in a tree. They just sat there for the longest time talking telling stories as we were working outside! It was precious! (By the way, Doreen was the photographer on this pic, I directed her to take it though. I had a shovel in my hand getting stuff done! :)

Can't Catch a Break! :(
The last three weeks at work have been challenging. For starters, late one Wednesday night in North Carolina, I was backing up out of a warehouse and hit a fence post and bent it up good. AAARRGGHHHH! Man was I mad. Not to mention that we didn't even need to be in the fence at that warehouse - we could get to the doors from the front! The instructions were misleading!
Then to top it all off, yesterday, in Chilhowie, VA as I was looking for a warehouse, I took an exit, stopped at the red light and then pulled through the light, only to see a VA State trooper behind me. I was being pulled over. My co-driver was shocked and asked why? I had no answer.
The trooper walked up asked for my paperwork - so I gave it to him, and he told me he caught me speeding, 74mph in a 55 speed zone. As we walked back to his patrol car - he told me he'd cut me a break and only write the ticket for 69 in the 55.
Ok - I'm thankful for that, it helps out in so many ways with my profession, but man I don't believe it was doing 74. I was doing maybe 65 at the max, but I can't prove it.I feel annoyed like I was 'profiled' or something like that - but there's nothing I can do. The ticket will cost me $126, but the court costs, trip to VA, and a day off to go to court just isn't worth fighting it.
Maybe next week will be a better one for me! :)

Awesome Children's Story
So this Sabbath I heard a Children's story that I LOVED!Here it is!
The lady stood up front and had this huge bowl. First off, she gave each child a spoon. She asked the children what happened each day of creation. As they told her - she would put a scoop of ice-cream in that bowl. Then she asked them what they loved most about creation. As they answered, "animals, people, Sabbath, etc" she would pile on chocolate syrup, whip cream, nuts, chocolate chips, whip cream and sprinkles.
Oh it looked good - very good!
Then she asked what happened in the Garden of Eden when Adam & Eve ate of the tree of knowledge of good and evil. The answer, "Sin."
At that point, she poured half a quart of motor oil on in. Then she asked another question about sin, and poured some kitty litter in the bowl.
The audience gasps.
Then she told us that Jesus was willing to take this sin on us - he was willing to eat that icecream bowl, sin and all to save us.
Then she told the kids, everytime they see a spoon, to think about that Sin Sundae and remember what Jesus did for us.
Made an impression on me!!! :)

Good Weekend OR Welcome to the World of Blogging
So, this weekend was a very relaxing one! Friday had us getting a few things done around the house, running an errand or two, putting some mulch on our Creeping Phlox
going for a swim (we've been promising the girls for quite some time we'd go - so we finally went.) eating dinner at one of our new favorite restaurants, Moes helping my father-in-law with his new computer and then heading home. Good day.
The cool thing was, while we were gone, we left Mocha in the backyard. Turns out the front little gate was left open by a little girl. The dog stayed put. Didn't even go out as far as we can tell. Not sure if that was cuz she didn't discover the gate was open, or chose to stay put - either way - that is awesome!
So today, we did church, SS and 2nd church for Doreen and Larry to sing special music. Now we had plans and tickets to go to the SonRise service Southern Adventist University puts on every year - but because of some 'extra' stuff at 2nd service, Doreen, Larry & Sandra were running late in getting to our house for lunch. I left early with the girls so we could get changed, the food out and get the slower eating girls underway.
Once I got everything out - I realized we really only had 20 mintues to eat. Talk about Rush, rush rush! So we bailed on the SonRise service - again. That makes 7 years here and still haven't seen it. Aaarrgghh! Next year, we're NOT gonna do anything on Easter weekend except go to the SunRise service. (Of course I think if I look back at last years post, I said the same thing! He, he, he!!!)
So we leisurely ate, relaxing and then went over to Larry & Sandra's place. We hung out, I helped Larry with a couple of things on his new computer and even snuck in a nap in there somewhere. I gotta run out to the Narrow's VA tonight.
Oh by the way, for those of you who know my in-laws, I helped Larry set up a blog page. They just got this broadband 'cell' card to use on the road - so they'll be able to keep things up to date as they travel! Cool eh??!!
Their new blog is SOLO.

Heely's? HEELY'S? or Growing Up!
My biggest little girl is growing up so quickly. So, SO very quickly!!!Sabbath, I was in the lobby having a conversation with a friend. Down the hallway a girl with rollerskates in her shoes was zipping down the hall. It caught the attention of both of us. Then he mentioned his nephew, whom he has custody of, was wanting a pair.
So I started telling him about the shoes I've seen, where the wheel is just in the heel and how I've seen them 'function.'Well, Joelle pipped up, "Daddy, those are called Heelys." My friend J has a pair, but the wheel isn't in them right now. She went on to tell us about two other things about them, then she just walked off. I was shocked. I was standing there with my mouth wide open.
My daughter is growing up SO incredibly fast. She is no longer a baby. She's learning things from others.

Pet Peeve??
Yeah - okay, maybe I have something 'wrong' with my head - but I am NOT a huge flip-flop fan. I've got a pair here at home, but I wear them RARELY. Mostly just for running the trash out to the dumpster or to move the water hose - you know quickie things like that. I don't understand the people that wear them EVERYWHERE. They're not that comfortable for a TON of reasons.
But I was shocked off my rocker Sabbath at church. A lady had a pair of flip flops on, but these weren't your average flip-flops. They were flip-flops with heels.
Oh my goodness!

Why are 'They' THAT Way... Part 2
Sunday, I made it back from my trip to Flat Lick, KY. (What a name!!!???) The cool thing was I made it back in time to join my family for the Southern Adventist University's Gym Masters home show gymnastics program. We were really intersted because we have some friends who's children are in a 'feeder' system learning gymnastics stuff early.Well the the kids did great, the the college kids put on their show. And WHAT an awesome show it was. Man'o'man what an awesome show. These kids did gymnastics stuff for 2 hours. It was AMAZING all they did.
So here's the reason for this post...
You know that for most gymnastics progams, they have 'up-tempo' music. This program, as well, had some 'up-tempo' music.
The friends I wrote about in a previous post where there. Their child was a 'gym kid.'
During the show, I really needed a drink. I left the gym and walked down the hall to the water fountain. She was standing at the door, I nodded a 'hello' as I walked by and went on down the hall. She eventually followed me all the way down the hall and said, "Boy are they good, but this music - I don't konw." I finished my drink, nodded and back to my seat.
Later, Doreen ran into them and the conversation was mostly about the 'questionable' music.
On the way out to the parking lot, I was kicking myself because I could have simply said, "That's too bad, because I'm enjoying it!" Oh to have come up with that line at the time.
People just need to get over things - ya know??!!
