Pioneer Afternoon

Yesterday afternoon we had an interesing experience.

Just after we finished, about 3:30p, putting all our Christmas stuff away, we had a huge wind storm and rain being blown sideways. It was interesting to watch. 10 minutes later, our power went out.

So we did a few things around the house while it was still light out and what not. Then Doreen and Natalie went to the kitchen table to play the game of Set. Joelle and I sat down on the kitchen floor to put a 9 piece puzzle together. (We never did get it Shelly & Randy. We'll try again soon - by the way, thanks for the Christmas gift!)

As the evening got later it got darker out, so we whipped out some candles and finished our activites. We put a few more candles out then got supper on the table, all by candle light. After supper we piddled around a bit, the girls got ready for bed, then I pulled a flashlight out and started reading worship.

At about 7:30p, 4 hours later, our power was restored. Cool beans.

Man - we have become SO dependent on electricity and what-not.

It was quite an adventure/experience for us and the girls. Joelle was loving it, Natalie kept wishing the power would return.

Anyway, it was interesting, but I'm glad to be back in the 21st century again! :)
