Cool Day

So today, we went to Dollywood. Don't ask how I got the day off. Just glad I could work it out.

That place is soooo cool. There is so much to see and do - no way to take it in all in one day. Right now they've got a theme called "festival of the Nations." It is awesome. People walking around in costumes from across the world and music, shows and food to match. It was way awesome!

The girls enjoyed some kiddy rides and a fun ride on the train that WE ALL thoroughly enjoyed!

A friend and I went on the Tennessee Tornado. A 120 foot high roller coaster that gets up to 70 Mph with about 4 G pulls and takes 108 seconds to ride. We did 3 flips and a couple of corkscrews - yeeeeehaaaawwww! Fun, fun fun!

It was good not thinking about work today! :)

by the way - our brickwork on our house is almost done. Everything but the window sills are finished. Praise the Lord!!! Those should be finished up - barring rain -tomorrow!

Anyway - we picked up season passes today at Dollywood - come on down and lets go play!

Short Respit

Waaazzz Uuuppppppp?

What are you doing?

He, he, he - loved those commercials.

Well - I've become a middle manager. Yuck! I'm managing 3 film students, 2 broadcasting students and one graphic animator. They're doing most of the work and I'm just the 'guide' on how we need things to look, what the message should be, and what kind of response we're hoping to generate.

I wish I could go back in time and just keep doing the radio production director thingy. You know - really - I thoroughly enjoyed that part of my work. Maybe this is because of the commute, of all I have to do in 'birthing' the TV thing for my company, little or no time at home, trying to get a house built and to just live a life.

Do I keep having the same complaints every time I post? Sorry - that's just what I'm feeling and experienceing right now.

So, last Friday I was able to pick up the countertops for the kitchen. I get them back to the house and the first two fit perfectly. The third however, while it did fit, the wall splash and the end cap were backwards. So I had to run back to the store to get 'em to fix it and get me a correct one. Today I get a call - they're in - so I go to pick them up. They made the fix EXACTLY the same as the incorrect ones. AAAARRRRGGGHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!

So, she gets on the phone - talking with the vendor and says it's 4 to 6 weeks to get them here. Immediately - I say emphatically "No - not acceptable." So she has to call another vendor and says, "2 to 3 weeks, better?" My reply, "Better yes, still it's unacceptable." Our house will be done by then, Lord willing, and I want it done not having to 'wait' to get it finished! So we end up settling on a week and a day or two.

A highlight of my day was a phone call from home. Doreen say's "Joelle wants to talk to you." So I talk with her for a few minutes and then Natalie and they're pretty much just babbling, but I catch words occassionally - very cute. Then talk with Doreen for a little bit - and just before hanging up she says, "Joelle said, when's Daddy coming home." Very precious! Definetly a 'highlight' of a very blah day.

Another, house construction story - the carpet layer calls Sun night and the carpet laying process will begin Monday. He'll call me to 'meet' and open/unlock the house. So he calls and says, we've got some bad news. They unrolled the carpet at the store to cut it to size, no good dry place to do that at the house yet, and they found 3 big holes in it from the manufacturer. AAAARRRRGGGHHHHHH!!!!!! Part 2 It all boils down to the carpet being put in at least a week to 10 days.

By the way, the ministry I work for and have helped move, which is still 'off the air - with our live programs, (every thing is a re-broadcast)' since Jan 19, (Which is a VERY SAD commentary on the planning of this transition) we hope to be back on next week. We've 'assembled' most all the equipment have 3 more items to come in and getting the satellite dishs aligned should be all we need to flip the switches off in Vonore and on in Collegedale. Please pray it'll all happen. That'll help one issue that needs help! :)

A good house construction story is that the brick layers have returned today and gotten just less that half of the final side that needs to be done. HURRRRAAAAAAYYYYYYYY! They claim they'll be done tomorrow night or early Thursday morning. Yyyipppppppeeeeeeeee!

Of course that means, Thursday, after they finish - I've got to get the extra brick laying around picked up and moved to our brick pile and the rest of the 'trash' cleaned up so it doesn't get turned under in the final grading and in the way later on.

I've got to squeeze that in between, work, a TV production meeting at 1p on Thur, and a radio board meeting for WKPJ. (Our LPFM in Athens, TN)

Tomorrow, I gotta work early, early AM - then home to meet with our family and friends and head to Dollywood. (Gotta fit in a little fun in life, especially one that is extremely challenged right now.

Hey - y'all have a blessed day!

Still alive - barely! :)

Hey, hey, hey!

How are y'all? (Warning, Guilt trip ahead he, he, he...) for those of you who don't know, you can just hit the comments button at the bottom and jot a line or two! :)

We're exsiting right now. Looking forward to the time when we can 'move' home! The place we're living now has really become a place of temporary residence. We've got a bunch of stuff packed up in boxes and ready to move. Still got more to pack - but we're making progress.

Still waiting on the brick layers. It's been three weeks since a brick has been laid on the exterior of our home. Some stuff has gotten done inside. (Blinds hung, toilets mounted, furnace hooked up.) But the plumber, electrician, furnace guy and final grading and the driveway has been all put on hold until the brick-layers are done. Ouch!

Can't wait to get moved though. Today was a 'taste' of what it'll be like to be a family again. I got home at 4:30pm (Yes, that is VERY early! The last two days, gone by 6:45 and home well after 8pm with extra stuff I've had to do.) We ate as a family. (Lately, I've had my breakfast in the car on the way down to Collegedale and lunch at the office and whatever I can snag or is leftover on the way home.) The girls caught me up on ALL going on with them. I shared some stuff happening, mostly good - some challenging, VERY challenging.

Then we went outside, filled our corn crib and bird feeder. Joelle got her bike out and I hopped on the girls scooter and up and down and around the driveway we went. Then down the subdivision and back, then down the cul-de-sac and back. All over the place. Doreen and Natalie walked with us one trip.

Then bath time for the girls and worship and bed-time. (Only my second worship with 'em this week with them. Boo hoo.)

Now Doreen and I are enjoying a 'Gaither homecoming' program and so I thought I'd take a sec to blog then time to crash!

Tommorow, we'll go to church. (Doreen's got 'Call to Worship' and I'm tellin the children's story.) We'll stay for potluck, home for Sabbath afternoon 'lay' activities, then over to some friends who invited us for supper. Looks like it'll be a GOOD day!

Then Sunday, we'll do some 'Easter' activities for the 'Pesters'. We'll pack some more boxes and just have a good family time together - not driving anywhere, no pressure, no stress, a little 'work,' but mostly just being together as family.

Oh yeah!

Have a blessed weekend and a happy Easter!

New and Unknown Occupations

Now I know why I'm so tired.

I've got other jobs, doing some moonlighting as a...

Race Driver?

Football Player?

(Bad) Poet?

I really wished I could remember any of these jobs because some of them look like a LOT more fun!

He, he, he!

I've not had enough time to 'post' the things I'd like to lately. So, here's a few pictures for you to enjoy because as they say, "A picture is worth a thousand words." By the way, this pic was taken at a location that was 300 yards from the 'capitol' of the Cherokee Nation, Tanasi. Of course this is where they got the state name of Tennessee.

Natalie's working hard around the house to 'get it ready for us to move - hopefully soon!'

Hope she's digging for gold - and finds it! :)

Natalie is carrying stuff outta the truck and doing a 'great' job! HOW PRECIOUS!

Joelle's helping us move stuff out of the truck and into the storage unit. (We moved some of my in-laws stuff down to 'clean' things out a little bit so the house would show better when our realtor brings a potential buyer.)

Playing in the sand that was gonna be mixed with some motar for the brick on our apt/studio being built.

More Stories & Stuff

So yesterday Joelle was going potty. (A great way to start a story eh? He, he, he!) After she finished I helped her wipe and we use a 'special' wet-wipe. So after she was done, she went and squatted over the 'heating' vent and said, "Gotta use air to dry off. I'm done now." Waaaa ha, ha, ha, ha! I just died laughing!

Then there was the morning I woke up about 3am and felt 'Doreen' scooted ALL the way over to my side of the bed. So I got up and went to the restroom, came back and tried to climb in bed and found, Joelle, all sprawled out on my side. So I tried climbing back in and scootin' her over, but alas - I ended up with about 6 inches to sleep on. Not good. I dond't want to wake her/them up - so I went to go lay down on the futon for the rest of the night. Turns out that Joelle woke up in the middle of the night with a leg hurtin. Doreen put some 'goop' on it to 'help' her feel better. Then Doreen let her crawl in bed with us. (Of course this is an event that very RARELY happens.) Still, it was cute!

So this weekend was good for us. Sabbath was a good day at church, then naps after potluck - then some good friends came over for the evening. It was VERY enjoyable.

Sunday morning we got up and had a GREAT breakfast, then for the 3 hours Doreen and I were packing like CRAZY trying to get ready to move. We packed and packed and packed. We got lots done and are feeling a little more prepared to move. Course we still got LOTS to pack - but we'll make it happen over the next 3 weeks or so.

Well, it's back to work this week. One word really sums it up. Yuck. In the car at 6:45a, home by 7p (hopefully). Not the ideal. No family time. If I could enjoy my work more - with the changes - it's not as enjoyable as it used to. So, right now, I'm living for weekends and for our house to get built so live can get more back to normal.

By the way - the electrician is close to being done and the painter will be wrapped by Friday. The plumber will be finished this week hopefully. Wednesday, the gutter guys will get those done. Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday - weather permitting and Lord willing the bricks will be finished. Then we'll be just that much closer to being able to move! Yeeee haaaaaaw!

Ok - you can wake up now, you've waded through this!

Blessings to each of you!

Cute Daughter Stories + Some Bonus Stuff

With SOOOO much going on lately - I've not been blogging nearly as much as I'd like to. And since I've been so busy, Doreen's been extremely busy taking care of EVERYTHING around the house - stuff that I typically take care of - that she hasn't even had a chance to 'guest' blog for me a couple of the following stories. Hope you enjoy these.

Doreen and the girls were next door at her folks one morning talking with her parents and the girls were in the back room playing nicely. (Now the reason the toys were in the back room and not in the living room like ususal is because the Otto's have listed their house with a realtor and so to keep it looking clean - the toys have been banished from the hearth to the back room.) Sandra happens to have a small sewing desk in that room as well. So eventually Natalie comes out with a 'lock' of her hair in her hand. So Doreen's trying to figure out if Joelle pulled it out, or if it just fell out etc. Natalie kept saying, "Put it back, Joelle cut, put it back, Joelle cut." Then they figure out that Joelle swipped a pair of sissors out of that desk and snipped a lock of Natalie's hair. He, he, he! Needless to say - Joelle was corrected and encouraged 'strongly' never to do that again! :)

One afternoon the Pester clan decided to go for a swim. Doreen made it a 'play' day inviting two other families and kids to join us. We had a LOT of fun swimming, playing and talking etc. Some of the kids got up on the 'starting blocks' and were jumping off 'em. Well Natalie wanted to try it - so she climbed up. (It's only about 2 or 3 feet off the water.) She was a bit hesitant at first, then jumped and came up out of the water laughing. She wanted to do it again - so she clambored up and immediately jumped. It was cute to watch. Then she wanted to jump of each of the small platforms along the edge of the pool and promptly did so - all 8 or 10. (However many there are! GRIN)

This morning I went to work at the "Vonore" office for a few hours to get some important stuff done. (Since we're still not moved yet, we still have an office in both locations.) Then I came home, picked up my family and we headed to the church to meet with 3 other guys to finish fine tuning of the dish and a couple of other things that need to happen to get our radio station finished. We got it all done, and now we've only got 3 small things to purchase to finalize stuff - but we are on the air and hooked up with the Satellite Radio Network I work for. Praise the Lord, we've got the hard stuff done.

Anyway, while we're there, Doreen walks into the studio with a funny grin on her face and then tells me this story. Joelle walked up to her and said, "Mommy, I went tinkle." Doreen thinks she means she had an accident in her panties, but they're bone dry. She looks around the corner of the van and Natalie has her pants around her ankles squating saying, "Mommy, I went tinkle." Doreen knows that Natalie didn't have to go because just 5 minutes before, Natalie went on a regular potty. Then right next to where Natalie is, Doreen spies a little 'puddle.' Then it comes together - Joelle did go tinkle. You see, last Sabbath on our walk - we were 10 min from the van Joelle told us she had to tinkle - so Doreen, since no one else was around, helped Joelle go potty in the woods. So after this episode, after we both had a big laugh - we had to tell Joelle - that's for emergency purposes only. When a potty is around then we use it! He, he, he!

Well - I better wrap up and get to bed. I need the time to relax cuz I'm so incredibly SORE - ALL OVER - from all the work yesterday! I've been doing a LOT of manual labor recently, but yesterday was way over the top!!! :) I'm gettin' older and it'ts taking longer to recover.

By the way, we've got Our House listed - please pray it'll sell quickly, VERY QUICKLY! :)

Have a blessed weekend!

Here's a pic of Eddie and I tryin to hang on for dear life and attach a clamp and antenna and heavy, HEAVY coax feed cable - then get it all tied down. Wheeeewwww!

I'm freakin' out at 98' up! :) Just out of the frame is the steel plate at the top of the tower! Aye yai, yai!

Here's the guy I climbed up with, Eddie H. What a trip. (The pole above his head, and with the white cylinder hanging down, is the antenna we hauled up.)

Here's the view of our church from on high. (Be careful, don't look down or you might start to feel dizzy!) HE, he, he!

Up a 100' Tower (almost didn't make it) or We're On the Air

What a day, WHAT A DAY!

It started at 6:30a this morning with me slappin' together and downin' a coupl'a fried egg sandwiches, gluten, an orange and a banana.

Once at the church - I unloaded ALL the junk outta my truck and started organizing the 'troops' that showed up to help. We eventually had about 25 people around and I was trying to get things done and to keep them all busy so no one was just standing around.

What a juggling act that was.

We got just about everything done. And Praise the Lord we're on the air with local music. All we're lacking is getting the satellite dish tuned to the proper channel on the satellite and a couple other little, little things to get done and we'll be up and running completely.

Today, Eddie, Dawn and I were gonna climb the tower to get everything done. Well - I got up that first 20' feet and wasn't sure I wanted to go another 80' feet straight up on something that got thinner and smaller. (The ironic thing is that while we're building this tower, I saw exactly how strong and sturdy it was and now I was starting to get chicken!) Finally Eddie started up and said we can do this - so I hooked in and up we went.

We were on the top for the better part of an hour and a half, gettin' the antenna mounted and the cable fixed into place. Couldn't believe it. Then it took us the better part of at least another hour and 15 minutes to work our way down - attaching the cable all the way down.

We had a GREAT group there today getting LOTS done. Got another couple of hours there tomorrow to get more finished and then it's just running the automation system. I'm looking forward to having the building done. The radio board has appointed a manger and he can take care of the day to day stuff! :)

Praise the Lord.

(By the way, my hands are extremely sore from 'hangin' on for dear life while attaching an antenna and stuff. My feet, legs and back are wore out from balancing on a delicate perch. Thank the Lord for a night of rest to work those awful kinks out!!!)

Hey, don't know about you - but for the first time this evening - I saw the trailer for Star Wars III. I can't wait to see it. If anyone ends up with the Boxed DVD set of all 6 movies, plus extras (Yeah I know, it'll be a LONG, LONG time before that comes out!!!) and you decide you don't want it - gimme a call - I'll take it off your hands for you!

If I don't blog between now and the weekend - have a BLESSED weekend!

Time Shifting

Hey!

How - are ya?

With ALL we've got going on - some of the show we like to watch have been a problem to fit in. (Yeah, yeah, yeah Scott - don't bother with a comment on this! He, he, he!) Some of those shows are , Home Edition: Extreme Makeover, Home Edition: Extreme Makeover - How'd They Do That?, Amazing Race, Apprentice and Survivor. So we occassionally "Time-Shift" them. Record them and play 'em back when we've got more time to watch 'em.

I sure wish we could 'time-shift' many of the other events in our lives. Right now the company I work for still hasn't gotten completely moved, I'm helping my boss build a TV set (Spent the morning running around The Home Depot with he and his wife getting supplies to build a set - that decision was made last night I guess. Originally it was to be professionally done. Guess I'm a professional set builder now! :), we've got a home building project going on - trying to ge the painter to come in and finally get his part done. The electrician has been in regularly and the brick layers are supposed to finish this week - so help me pray for good weather so they can!
We're trying to get our home packed up (unsuccessfully so far) so we can move when the house is done. And finally tomorrow (Thur) we're having a work bee to build out our church's LPFM.

We've got to run 11 ground rods, put up a Patriot Satellite dish, run the antenna & feed cable up the tower, ground all the audio equipment and a half dozen other little things. This is one day I'd like to time shift to another day, but our deadline is coming soon (March 31) so we gotta get this done. It'll be fun (hopefully) but a LOT of work. (Especially climbin' and working - with a safety belt - at the top of the 100 ft tower.)

Have a blessed day y'all!

The Kinda Weekend I Needed

Man, this was an awesome weekend! This was the kinda weekend I desperately needed, and the best part of it was, it was pretty much exclusively time with family!

Friday I got home, and spent 15 min inside, then stepped back in the car for another hour drive to some friends for a nice get-together for us to worship.

Sabbath morning we slept in - as much as the girls would let us. They jumped in bed with us and it's gettin' to the point where all four of us can't fit anymore! :)

We ate a leisurely breakfast, then jumped in the car and out to some ancient Cherokee burial grounds and had a nice walk, enjoyed a beautiful morning, did a geocache and just loved our time together.

I happend to find what I thought was a dollar on the ground, and it turned out to be $81 dollars, two credit cards and a drivers licence in a money clip. So on the way out we called info, got the guys number and left a message on his machine. He called an hour later and came to pick up his things. Very thankful we had it for him! I know I woulda been! :)

My in-laws are home and we had a delicious lunch together. Then we ALL snoozed for a while, then up and got together with my in-laws and went to the park and for a nice walk, again, and more quality family time. Then home for a lite dinner of strawberries (Natalie likes to call them strawberry shortcake) and popcorn.

After the girls went to bed, we watched "Mona Lisa Smiles." It was an ok movie. Not one I'd ever be interested in watching again though.

Then to bed for the rest of us.

Sunday had us up early, and an early breakfast, then packing the Uhaul with garage stuff and other things to clear up my inlaws home a bit so it'll show better to potential buyers. Then we-hauled it to Collegedale and unloaded it in the storage unit. Then over to the property and we had to move 3 stacks of lumber to a different location, out of the way of where the excavator will need to be working soon.

Home, after it was all done - quick 30 minute nap on the floor then up to Taco Bell for dinner, then to McD's for some time for the girls in the playplace to work out some wiggles they had stored up. We then stopped at Sonic on the way home for a ice-cream treat, then to home baths, worship and to bed for the girls.

We just finished watching our favorite show of all times, Extreme Makeover: Home Edition.

A few minutes to blog - then a quick prep of a lunch for tomorrow, then off to bed for a sound night of sleep, peaceful from the knowledge of a blessed weekend!

Have a good week y'all!!!

Indoor Cats - BAH Humbug

T! G! I! F!

What a week this has been. Lots and LOTS AND LOTS OF THINGS TO DO! Everytime I turn around recently - I have more on my plate.

Hopefully soon, VERY SOON, I'll be able to tie up some ends on these things and end up with a very nice hammock to relax in! :) Of course then I'll be wining in that blog that I'm bored and don't have enough to do! Waaaaa haaaaa, haaaaaa, haaaaaaaaaaaa! (Am I losing it?)

Finally got the phones hooked up at work, radio uplink equip is not hooked up yet. So we're still running re-broadcast stuff. We've been running re-broadcast stuff since Jan 14. That's 7 weeks of NONE of our live programs airing. Not good for a Christian Radio Network that does live talk shows. Not good at all.

So - since our phones are now operational, during the re-broadcast time-slot of the show I help co-host, I took 15 calls. We were averaging 10 during the live shows! :) It was a joy to talk with our listeners again and begin re-establishing a two way communication with them! Made today better!

This evening we had a get-together at a co-workers house to fellowship and have a short time of worship. It was very nice. This family has already made the move closer to our new office.

The thing of the matter is, I HATE INDOOR CATS! I think EVERY INDOOR CAT OUGHT TO BE SHAVED!!! :) With the allergies I have to them - within in 30 min of being in a house with indoor cats, I start sneezin, eyes watterin', it gets hard to breath and not feeling good at all. If I'm gonna spend a day or more around any feline critters, I have a med, I got from my mom, that I have to start taking 2 days in advance and at least two days after - or my nostrils turn into Niagra falls. But it isn't worth it for a 3 hour visit with friends. But then I really PAY for it.

So - I HATE INDOOR CATS!!!! :)

Playing hookie from church tomorrow - must have a time of rest, with no one else around but family. If not - I might explode! :)

Each of you have a wonderful weekend!

"Priceless"

Commuting 2 hours, plus, every day = Tiring
Moving a radio network = Exhausting
Building an LPFM Radio Station = Fatiguing
Overseeing the building of a new home = Draining
Struggling with 'other' issues = Crushing
Little or NO time with my family = Discouraging
Attempting to understand the un-understandable = Overwhelming

Plans to play hookie from church and have quality and
relaxing family time = Priceless!!!
