Busy, Busy, BUSY - Highlights
Hey - We've Moved!
-- My folks from Colorado visited. (They brought us a used truck they're getting rid of and helped us move.)
-- Our House Sold (We closed on it still owing almost $2,000 but better to be rid of it than still owe over $76,000.)
-- Life at work is still in a mess.
-- Life at home is MUCH better now that I can join my family for breakfast and lunch and have time together after work instead of driving.
-- My grandma's paralysis is getting better so she can eat and drink now and can actually keep stuff down.
-- My oldest daughter turned 4 years old. She is getting so BIG and is still incredibly PRECIOUS!!!
-- Still got LOTS and LOTS to do, boxes still stacked around the house, gotta get a back sidewalk in to cover ALL the dirt (and mud when it rains), and gotta get things at work under control, as much as I possibly can!
I'll try to be more faithful at blogging now that my 2 1/2 hour commute has come to a close!

Unique Flashilight!
So last night I stay up later than Doreen and when I went to go to bed it was DARK in our room. I didn't want to wake her up - so instead of turning on any lights I just flip open my phone and voila - enough light to get me around without stubbing my toes or crash into things and wake Doreen up etc. It was very cool.
We got a TON packed up today. Just a little more to do and we'll be ready to go. Our house in Chattanooga is not, however. Our deck is not done - so we can't get the final house inspection. The sidewalk isn't in and neither is the carpet - so we're just waiting - and packing!
Hey - y'all have a GREAT week!

A Nap - 1st time in a couple of weeks
If you've read any of my blogs over the last few months, you've probably noticed - I LOVE to take naps.
Lately, because of the crazyness of my life, that luxury has woefully been missing.
Well, I snagged one today. Yeeee hawwww!
At work - we're still working on getting the TV studio done. That is all fine and good, it needs to be completed. However, we have little or no equipment. I've been asking my boss for 2 weeks to order tripods and batteries for the cameras and some other very essential equipment. It hasn't happened.
Yesterday I asked him to order the equipment this morning and he said - lets finish the "green wall" (A chroma key wall just like weathermen use.) I said, "we're going to get this set done and not have any equipment to shoot it. Let's order the equipment first thing - then finish the wall as the company packs up and sends us the equipment while we're working on TV studios." He finally relented.
So - for an hour, I tried tracking him down to actually order the equipment. I think it finally got done, I had to leave. I'm praying it got done! :) We need that equipment if we're going to actually be a TV studio! :)
Well - I ran by the house, which the excavator showed up Thursday and got the final grading of the land done. Yeeee haaawww! The carpenter is coming in Sunday to build the deck. The carpet isn't in yet, but that should happen this next Wed & Thur. The sidewalk should be put in on Mon or Tue this week too! It's coming together!
Anyway - Thursday after the excavator did his thing, Doreen got a friend to watch the kids and met me at the house. We put down 150 pounds of grass seed and 15 bails of straw. We started at 5 and she left at 7, and I finally got done about 8:30. WOW! :) Hope the rain Thur night and Friday helps it grow like gangbusters! :)
So, back to today - I stopped by the house and the painter was finishing up the exterior trim and I popped in for a moment, then headed home. Got home as the family was finishing up lunch and then Doreen had to go to a Dr appointment, so I put Natalie down for a nap and then Joelle and I crashed for a couple of hours. Boy do I feel a TON better!
On a Sad note - Dad called me last night to let me know that Grandma isn't doing so well. She recently had a stroke and has been struggling with pneumonia lately. So they ran some tests and found that her 'valve' (not gonna try to spell the actual medical word for it! He, he, he!) when she eats isn't completely closing - so she's getting stuff in her lungs. Then the 'valve' between her esophagus and stomach isn't closing completely either. So she's getting stuff from her stomach in her lungs as well.
The long and short of it is - my dad and his sister have decided not to use 'heroic' methods to prolong her life. She won't leave an IV or feeding tube in - so they'll let her eat and drink and do the best, with hospice, to keep her comfortable in her last few days. I guess they're guestimating she's got about a month. She's 93 and had quite a very full life - so this is very sad. Not only that, we have to be planning to attend a funeral in Lincoln sometime in the very near future! Sad!
Hey, we're hoping to move on Friday - anyone wanna come help??!! :)
Have a blessed weekend!

House selling scare...
So today we went to Sabbath School, church a meal afterwards, then spent some time in a planning meeting for our upcoming VBS in June.
After the meeting I spent some time recording some local WKPJ ID's with some church members and kids on our LPFM station. It was cool. Joelle & Natalie did GREAT and it was extremely cute.
So we got home mid-afternoon and Natalie was sacked out - so we put her in bed and then started a fire in our fireplace - it was VERY COLD out today. Joelle played with a bunch of different things and Doreen and I snoozed in front of the fireplace.
A while later, we all woke up and at that point Doreen noticed our answering machine had a message and it was our realtor asking us to call. I almost had a coronary!!!
So Doreen called and the realtor said that the family who bought our place had a couple of concerns...
...aaaaaarrrrrrggggghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh...
...but that she'd made a couple of calls and found the answers to their questions and they were happy again.
Oh My Word.
Gotta get this house in Collegedale done! Gotta Get moved. Gotta close early!!! :)
So - the 'tease' for the 11p news just came on and mentioned they'd talk to people about what the Pope of the last 26 years meant to them. That prompted Doreen to ask what the pope meant to me. My response - pretty much nothing. I couldn't think of anything that 'he' as a person meant to me.
I vaguely remember the previous Pope dying and the HUGE 'to do' they had as a memorial service - then the announcement of this guy. I've been interested in a few of the writings coming out of this Papacy - on how Evolution and Creation can basically both be believed - for one. But other than that - not much.
So did this Pope mean anything to you?
Well - the rest of this weekend has us cleaning up bricks outside and cleaning up the messy, MESSY floor inside!
Hope yours is good!

M-Day April 10??? C-Day April 18!!!!
Hey y'all - TGIF.
How are ya!
We're good - very, VERY GOOD! (I'll get into that in a minute.)
Our brick masons got done Thursday morning! Hurray!!! They actually got done with the front wall Wednesday and then Thur morning finished up all the window sills.
So Thur and Fri morning I've been leaving 2 hours early and getting to the house just as it gets bright enough outside to see and I've been picking up broken, cut, and partial bricks and hauling them in the wheelbarrow over to a 'brick pile.' (Gotta get them cleaned up out of the 'yard' before final grading so if we ever do landscaping - we won't have to dig up bricks to put stuff in! *GRIN*) The catch is for the last two days it's been raining, raining and and RAINING. So I've been doing what I can - completely soaked - then change in the house and hop in the car and head to work on time. Haven't gotten it all done yet - but Sunday, hopefully, we'll get it finished up.
Last Monday and Tuesday our carpet was supposed to be put in, but thankfully when it showed up at Lowes - it had 3 huge holes in it - so they had to send it back! Hopefully it'll get done by Wed this week! I'm thankful it didn't get put in because of ALL the rain, the contractors finalizing stuff inside have tracked mud, red mud, everywhere. It would have gotten EVERYWHERE and been a pain to clean up. So I know I may have 'complained' at the time - but now I'm thankful!
By the way - The plumbing is DONE, just waiting for the inspection, the electrical is DONE, just waiting for the inspection, the building is DONE, just waiting for the inspection (And carpet! He, he, he), and the mechanical (Heating & A/C) is all but done. Just waiting for the 'rain' to let up to place the 'compressor' in the back. :) Then we're just waiting for our excavator to do the final grading of the dirt and prep the ground for sidewalks and bring in the gravel for the driveway. The One final thing we've gotta get done is the deck on the back. That's ALL! We've come a LONG way baby!
So we're hoping - weather permitting - to get most of that stuff wrapped up this week and we're really, REALLY hoping to be able to move Sunday April 10. Actually we NEED to move on April 10. It really is a MUST to move on April 10... because today our house sold. PRAISE THE LORD.
That's right - last night Doreen got a call from our Realtor that our home was going to be shown about 1 today. (It was the first time it's been shown since we listed it March 1) So among everything else we had going on - Doreen got the house lookin very, VERY good. So I went to work and then met Doreen and the girls at the church in the afternoon to clean it. On the way home, 3 minutes from it in fact - the realtor calls and says the people who saw our house want to make a 'CASH' offer $9,000 under what we were asking. So we talk numbers for a few minutes then we turn on our road and I pull over and Doreen pulls up next to me - and I pop out of the pick-up and run to her window and while I'm on phone we discuss numbers and we then make a counter offer. We run home - drop off the pick up and back into the van (Where our girls are thankfully spending a few moments in 'la-la-la, sandman land') and head to Vonore for haircuts for Joelle and me.
The realtor calls again for some more negotiation and really the only change is she forgot to tell me the 'buyers' would like to have our corner curio cabinet in the kitchen. We agree as long as they accept our counter offer and 3 minutes later we're in her office - sign the paperwork to begin the process, (The buyers signed and were satisfied so we close April 18) we talk for a few minutes - then off to get the haircut I've been trying to get for about 3 weeks. (I look like the shaggy-DA, he, he, he!)
Can you believe how that came together? Me either! :) Can you believe our house is sold? Me either!! :) Can you believe how good God's timing is? Now that I look at it, I can. I just need to learn to have that 'faith' as I look ahead and not see how things are going to come together.
We'll be about $1,250 short of what we owe on our home. We'll have about $250 in closing costs - so we're going to have to rob a bank for about $1,500 to make this all happen - but, Lord willing - we'll get 'er done!!! (BTW - That's a JOKE FOLKS - we're not gonna rob a bank. He, he, he)
Oh by the way, one reason we MUST move on the 10th - is because we have some other friends, he works the same place I do - and this morning, about 4 hours before we did, sold their house under just about exactly the same circumstances. Their house had been listed 40 days before it was ever shown, they got a cash offer yesterday, countered yesterday evening and this morning the offer was accepted and so they sold also!!! Can you believe it? So they're moving April 17. (They close the 18th as well!)
Pray for us - we have MUCH, MUCH, MUCH to accomplish in the next week!
By the way - this is NO April's Fools. I would not 'Fool' about this. This is just a HUGE blessing!!!
